British Safety Council Award

British Safety Council Award

Dubai Municipality, represented by the Health and Safety Department, won the British Safety Council Award in the International Safety Award category, in recognition of its efforts in managing the occupational health and safety system at the level of the Emirate of Dubai.

This honor is a reinforcement of the pioneering role of Dubai Municipality in applying the highest standards of health and safety. The Municipality also won International Safety Award in the category of Ambassador of the Year for Safety, Health and Wellbeing for the management of wastewater and recycled water projects. This is for the 132/11kV sub-station project for transferring the electricity generated from the Dubai Waste Management Center to the Warsan Wastewater Treatment Plant. The Municipality put the substation into operation last February after 21 months of work, in coordination with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.

Dubai Municipality won two awards during the Energy and Infrastructure Ministry’s Research and Innovation Awards. The Transportation and Administrative Services Department won first place in the Future Mobility Solutions category of government establishments for the Smart Monitoring Project for the Dubai Municipality’s vehicle fleet.

Which aims to raise safety and security standards while driving for Municipality vehicle users, reduce the accident rate, increase awareness of vehicle users about traffic laws, and maintain its fleet of vehicles through the use of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence. The Dubai Central Laboratory Department won first place in the category of Impacts of Climate Change on the Resilience of the Energy and Infrastructure Sectors. It won the award for a technical study related to the use of glass waste as a substitute for rubble with asphalt mixtures used in paving the asphalt base layer on roads. The study, which took about six months to be prepared, comes as part of the Municipality’s efforts to maintain the sustainability of environmental sectors, strategies to reduce climate change, reduce waste, and raise recycling rates.

Dubai Municipality received multiple honours at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) awards, which aims to recognize the performance, policies, and procedures of institutions for public and occupational health and safety and highlighting their role in protecting workers from workplace accidents.

The Municipality’s Waste Operations and Management Fleet Safety initiative secured the gold award in the Fleet and Equipment Safety Category, which emphasizes the measures and responsibilities of the Logistic Services Section in maintaining safety of the vehicle and equipment fleet and optimum waste management processes. In addition, the Municipality secured two Silver awards in the Occupational Health and Safety as well as Leisure Safety categories. The accolades highlight the efforts of Dubai Municipality to guarantee the health and safety of workers in industrial facilities and infrastructure projects, along with operators and visitors of games and events areas in Dubai. Dubai Municipality won the Bronze award in the Achievement category in recognition of its dedication towards developing occupational health and safety in agricultural management and advancement and implementation of best-in-class public and workplace safety standards to safeguard workers from any accidents and lowering the rate of work injuries. Furthermore, the Municipality’s Deep Tunnel Stormwater Project received the achievement award. This strategic project has been implemented with the purpose of collecting rain and surface water and transporting it through a deep tunnel to the main pumping stations leading to four water tanks.

Dubai Municipality, represented by Public Health Services Department, won the first place in the WVA Global Animal Welfare Awards in the category of animal welfare, organized by the World Veterinary Association.

Dr. Dima Matar Al Dhahiri won the award for the Animal Welfare Initiative, which aims to preserve animal health and develop standards for animal welfare. The award aims to develop veterinary practices and veterinary medicine and encourage veterinarians and activists in the field of animal health and care to adopt best practices in the field of animal care.

Best Business Award

Dubai Municipality also won four awards within the Best Business Awards, organized by the Awards Intelligence. The Executive Planning Department won first place in the Best Use of Technology category, for its smart systems initiative for infrastructure projects and affected lands.

Dubai Central Laboratories Department in Dubai Municipality won first place in the best sustainable product / procedure category for the initiative to grant certification and conformity mark for thermal insulation products according to the requirements of the Green Building rating system of Dubai Municipality – Al Sa’fat. The Food Safety Department won first place in the Disruptor of the Year for Product or Service category, for the My Food initiative, which is the first digital transformation journey undertaken by a regulatory entity in the world. The Contracts and Purchasing Department won first place in the Best Purchase category, for the Digital Transformation initiative.

Dubai Municipality won two awards within the British Safety Council Awards. The Health and Safety Department won in the International Safety Award category, as the health and safety management system in Dubai Municipality was evaluated and received the Distinction rating, which is the highest evaluation level for the award category, which aims to ensure the health and safety of its employees as well as community members.

Dubai Municipality’s Drainage Projects Department was awarded Distinction rating for the Deep Tunnel Project for Storm Water Discharge. The award aims to motivate the work team and encourage adherence to the highest standards and practices in the field of occupational health and safety
