Bird Watching

Bird Hides have been built at both the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary and Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve for visitors to get close-up views of the birds, plants, animals and habitats of the area while minimizing disturbances to wildlife.

Spending time exploring Dubai’s protected areas through our Bird Hides is an enriching and satisfying experience for everyone, from seasoned biologists to the casual visitors.   The Hides are a key element of the comprehensive visitor education programmes of Dubai Municipality.

Please note that all visitors are officially allowed to enter our protected areas and go to specific vantage points, like the bird hides, according to the specific times and locations of each Reserve.

Guided tours

Dubai Municipality as a part of its mandate to promote environmental education, offers free guided tours to its visitors.

The Protected Areas Guide provides an interpretive talk and helps the visitors in identifying the birds and helps them see the wetland through an eye of a conservationist.

Guided tours can be arranged while booking your visit. Click here for more details.

Nature Photography

Photography is a powerful tool for protecting nature through its key contributions to conservation stories, awareness materials, scientific reports, digital content, other publications, and last but not least, capturing memories of personal experiences to share with family and friends.

Thanks to the conservation efforts of Dubai Municipality, the natural beauty of the Emirate of Dubai can be easily accessed and enjoyed by UAE citizens, residents and visitors.  Photography allows not only present but also future generations to relish the natural wonders of Dubai, no matter where on the Planet they live.

Dubai Municipality encourages nature photography in our Protected Areas.   In particular, the bird hides constructed at the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary and Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve both offer excellent bird viewing points for photographers.
